CRAB MARKET, DIFC DUBAI

Taking any excuse for a trip to DIFC, we headed to Crab Market, the financial district’s newest seafood eatery, to check out their infamous crab, tartare selection and prawns.  Nestled in Emirates Financial North Tower, it isn’t the easiest place to find, but once you eventually meander up to the 15th floor you are greeted to friendly staff and an open plan kitchen surrounded by a display of the finest seafood and yes… lots of crabs!

The restaurant sprawls across across the northern side of the tower and provides stunning views across DIFC and beyond, thanks to floor to ceiling windows.  A large well lit restaurant area with relaxed atmosphere is provided in the right wing, whilst a New York style bar \ lounge, with a funkier dim lighting vibe encompasses the left wing, both of which are centred around a light and airy kitchen!

Seated on a cosy table by the window (glorious views), we sank straight into the comfy chairs, making our first choice of the eve – what to drink?  First up were a couple of signature cocktails, which provided a modern spin on some classics.  We opted for the Scarlet Cole (think Pisco Sour) and Berry Shack (very fruity) and sipped away, whilst absorbing the contents of the glorious menu.

With the renowned Russian Chef, Vladimir Mukhin (of Netflix fame) firmly in control, the food started to arrive thick and fast!  To start was the rather unusual Cauliflower, Parmesan and Truffle Carpaccio in addition to Tartare Platter (Salmon, Mango and Ciboulette; Langoustine, Pomelo and Yuzu and Scallops, Papaya and Cilantro).  The star of the show was surprisingly the Carpaccio, which we are advised is a best seller, whilst the Tartares provided a great mix of flavour and texture – so much so we were excited to see what treats lay around the corner!

Our main courses arrived in the form of an array of fresh seafood, including the highly-rated Kamatcha Crab Legs, Langoustine and Jumbo Prawn accompanied by lime aioli, all of which were cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth – sensational!

Desert followed in the form of Mango Panacotta with Lychee Granite, however the star of the show was the Chocolate Mousse with Hazelnuts – a great way to finish the evening off on a high.
