Summers in Dubai can be slow, with a lack of outdoor activities and entertainment. In an attempt to spice up a recent Friday night, we decided to pay a visit to Billionaire Mansion, a place that I only recently found out offered both a show and sit-down dinner experience (with ample sushi I must add) – not just a nightclub with bottles poppin’ to the early hours of the morning. A concept crafted by Italian entrepreneur and F1 boss Flavio Briatore; the new restaurant, show, bar and club experience can be found spread across the first floor of the Taj hotel in Business Bay.

You might be expecting a mansion, but don’t worry – that fact that it isn’t is not a deal breaker and the cosy space that it does house actually adds to its personality. Made up of two different venues, half the space is filled with a bar which expands into a club at the stroke of midnight, whilst the restaurant offers a mix of Japanese and Italian dishes alongside a classy cabaret show. The Billionaire brand has already made a name for itself in places such as Italy, Turkey, Kenya and Monaco and their newest venture in Dubai doesn’t slip on standards even slightly.

Combining culinary riches and thrilling live entertainment shows, last Friday was consumed by sushi and spaghetti at Billionaire Mansion’s unique luxury dining concept. Featuring a sumptuous vine draped terrace, the restaurant space houses both Sumosan and Billionaire Grill, which offers classic Italian food alongside a contemporary Japanese menu. Spearheaded by award-wining Executive Chef Reif Othman, previous head chef at my favourite restaurant in town, PLAY Restaurant & Lounge, I was looking forward to trying some of Reif’s newest creations and he did not disappoint.

Serving an interesting fusion of flavours and ingredients, we started with some of Reif’s signatures including a platter of the finest sushi and sashimi delicacies, along with tuna tartar with creamy truffle sauce and Wagyu beef tataki with pickled onion and creamy truffle ponzu.

For middles, we dug into a few signatures from Billionaire Grill, a part of the restaurant that is headed by Executive Chef Batuhan Piatti Zeynioglu. We sampled a selection of classic Italian flair and spent the next show enjoying some seriously yummy signatures including Lasagnetta “Billionaire” and the duck filled ravioli.

Mains came in the form of a perfect-sized portion of Alaskan black cod with miso and slow cooked beef short ribs, which were both fantastic and we ended the night with a delicious mango shortbread, topped with fresh fruit and coconut ice cream.

The good news? You really don’t have to stay up late to enjoy Billionaire Mansion’s show experiences. Starting at 8pm every evening, the brilliant dinner shows which include acrobats, dancers and magicians happen every 30 mins. A fun and foodie night out that I will definitely be re-visiting.
