The Atlantic, Souk Al Bahar: Located in the heart of downtown Dubai, The Atlantic Dubai is set against the backdrop of the beautiful Burj Khalifa, and situated along the Souk Al Bahar’s extensive waterfront promenade overlooking the majestic Dubai fountains – it is probably the best views of the fountains you will get (unless you stand on the promenade, which let’s be honest, is no fun without a drink!). Whilst Mango Tree looked a bit tired, the new The Atlantic interiors are definitely nothing short of snazzy! The light and airy decor is in shades of white, blues, greens and golden, with marbled walls, long sofas breaking up the room and amazing light fixtures dotted around the room. Green ombre coloums stand tall throughout the room and the bar, with open kitchen views, provides entertainment all night long! Outside is the main star of the show though and when we stepped onto the terrace of The Atlantic, we were blown away by the views. Staying true to the concept of its Australian sister restaurant, the Souk Al Bahar eatery is also based on an ‘Ocean to Plate’ philosophy, and features an oyster bar as well as a collection of meat dishes. This sophisticated and contemporary dining destination pays homage to the very best produce from around the world, sustainably sourced from the ocean. Favourites include the Warm Oysters baked with parsley crumbs, parmesan and mustard and the Yellowtail King Fish ceviche.

STK, JBR: Living in a city that never sleeps definitely has its advantages – one clear fact being that it’s quickly becoming home to some of the world’s most celebrated restaurants, the latest being the international steakhouse favourite, STK. With a chic vibe, upmarket interiors and a trendy New York edge, the restaurant features a 220-seat capacity. Twisting an industrial-chic warehouse style with the glitz and glam of Dubai flair, the restaurant uses a muted palette of textures in a trendy décor. The multihued lighting system creates an ambience for every occasion, with rounded corners and soft curves adding an elegant finish to the refined leather booths. The bright interior offers a variety of seating options to cater for all, including an outdoor area, perfect for those balmy evenings under the stars. With something for everyone, there are salads, starters, steaks and fish. With the various cuts of tender, juicy beef undoubtedly the star of the show, the wide selection of toppings, sauces and sides share the spotlight. Favourites include the Grilled Octopus, the Mac&Cheese and Parmesan Truffle Chips – the steaks are also amazing!

Luigia, JBR: The arrival of Luigia has been nothing short of exciting, and I for one was eager to try out the new Italian restaurant in Rixos Premium on JBR. With 4 successful Luigia venues already dotted around Europe, the much-loved Italian restaurant places an emphasis on authenticity, simplicity and quality. Recognised by Gambero Rosso as one of the top 10 pizzerias in the world, this award-winning Italian restaurant, founded by Luigi Guarnaccia and Enrico Coppola, is really as good as they say it is! It’s definitely not a small space, but with a collection of different tables and chairs in all heights, shapes and size, the restaurant doesn’t feel too empty, even if only a few of the tables are full. There is a large bar that covers one side of the restaurant, and an open kitchen at the back where all the pizzas are made. I would definitely say Luigia is family-friendly, however, one of its many attributes is that it still feels like a place you would happily go on a date, or hang out with friends. One of many new openings at the Rixos Premium Dubai, which is fast becoming a hub for foodies in the area, Luigia is best for its pizza and pasta dishes – that being said, they make a mean salad and we loved their buratta. Boasting ‘authentic Italian home cooking’, Luigia makes their pizzas with naturally fermented homemade dough that sits for 72 hours prior to service. This special dough coupled with their premium ingredients is what makes their pizzas so darn tasty! The Burrata is a MUST and we also loved the Polpo Grigliato – a plate of grilled octopus with spinach salad, fennel, black olives, tomatoes and lemon. We also loved the Risotto Caprese and their epic selection of pizzas.

Flamingo Rooms by Tashas: Located on the Turtle Lagoon at Jumeirah Al Naseem, neighbouring other fantastic restaurants such as Il Borro and Black Tap, there is so much to love about Flamingo by Tashas. Natasha’s (the owner) signature attention to detail is prevalent in every aspect of the restaurant, from the uncomplicated and clean menu to the wonderful interiors. The largest Tashas concept to date has commissioned bespoke pieces by globally renowned design firm B&S Studio, which adds a unique touch to the elegant furnishings. Prepare to be WOWed from the moment you arrive through the walnut wood doors that open to reveal a beckoning marble champagne bar with sleek gold detailing. The restaurant itself is enveloped with stylishly simple banquettes, allowing the eye to be drawn to the Baobab inspired installation above. Wander outdoors, where seating is set within a pagoda, providing uninterrupted views of Jumeirah Al Naseem’s turtle lagoon, which is home to rehabilitated turtles. The attention to detail is second-to-none: everything from the door handles on the bathroom doors to the cushion covers that have been handmade in Cape Town – even the speakers are painted the same salmon pink as the walls. From the marble floors to the fish-scale walls and the sculptural light that looks like a giant orchid sprawling across the ceiling, the dining room is truly beautiful – if only she could come and design my flat! Not only are the interiors immensely instagrammable, the menu is too! Reflecting commitment to quality ingredients and showcasing an impressive variety of revamped classics and glamorous dishes, bursting with seasonal flavours – passion and culinary creativity are evident throughout! Portions are not only pretty, but they are more than generous too! With so many fantastic things to choose from, picking your poison is the hardest challenge! We loved the butternut carpaccio, the white fish ceviche, the calamari mozambique and the cacio e pepe.
